At 28, Mike ?The Situation? Sorrentino is pretty much on top of the world. As one of the breakout stars of MTV?s Jersey Shore, he?s essentially paid to party, and he counts celebrities like Dwayne ?The Rock? Johnson and Leonardo DiCaprio among his many fans. But, as his longtime best friend Jon Manfre (who goes by ?The Unit?) exclusively tells In Touch, things weren?t always quite so rosy for Mike: Only a few years back, when the economy first began to tumble, he was ?working in mortgages, and he lost his job. He lost his house. And then his girlfriend thought it was a good time to leave ? she even took the dog. He found himself with nothing,? Jon says. ?And that?s when he turned it around. He took what everybody loved about him ? his body ? and he used that to his advantage.?
And even though Mike has been ripped for so long that he was known as ?Mikey Abs? before he got his current nickname, little sister Melissa tells In Touch that her brother is much more than a six-pack. ?He?s the type of guy who, when he has a steady girlfriend, he treats her like a princess,? she says. ?He?s generous and loving and when there?s someone he really cares about, he goes all out.? Fame, she adds, hasn?t changed him a bit. ?He?s always been how he is now. He was very energetic and confident and funny, and the girls always loved him. We always had girls calling the house for Mike.?
